Welcome!
Drawing has always been part of my life. It comes as naturally as breathing. Early on I discovered that I could bring a great deal of joy to people around me through my various art projects. I taught art in schools in East Africa, Hong Kong, the UK and US.
Gradually I started to explore museums and galleries as venues for making as well as viewing art. I was seduced by the magnificent histories of Objects, and developed a fascination with the expression they can find in a Still Life. Here is a life of the eye and the mind, where nothing is exactly what it seems, and layers of meaning are revealed sometimes over the centuries.

Teaching is as central to my art practice as drawing and painting, it forces me to see through fresh eyes. In 2015 I continued my career as a serial docent, joining the program at The National Gallery of Art, in Washington DC, introducing children of all ages to the treasure held in their name.

In 2018 I started a weekly drawing group in my studio. In short a collective of close friends and neighbours dedicated to holding on to a sacred space for reflection and joy through our various creative painting projects.

We call ourselves AnkaSKYstudio for the location in the expanded attic at my home. The work on this site is all mine, most from the last two years
